About the Author - Nadine Sachiko Hsu

BACKGROUND
Nadine Sachiko Hsu was one of the first women in the USA to pursue drifting, a professional motorsport that originated from Japan in the 1980’s. From 2002-2006, she was a 14 sponsor-backed professional racecar driver and one of the only women competing in the Formula Drift Series (America’s 1st professional drift racing series). Nadine is the founder of Drifting Pretty (an organization for the advancement of women in motorsports), stunt doubled in Fast & The Furious Tokyo Drift, drift racing instructor, and was a regular competitor in local drifting competitions.

Nadine’s car, which she still owns today, is an award winning race car, winning numerous trophies at both car shows and drift races across California. Her car was most recently featured in Motor Trend.

In 2025, Nadine’s car will be featured in the Japanese American National Museum’s groundbreaking exhibit “Cruising J-Town.”

She has been interviewed & featured in countless publications & TV Shows across the USA, France, Japan and most recently the UK.

SOCIAL CAUSES
As Nadine searched for books to read her daughters, she looked for children’s books that highlighted the social cause near and dear to her heart: empowering women to pursue their dreams & passions, even if they seemed socially uncommon. Nadine also longed for books by AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islanders) and Hapa (persons of mixed Asian ancestry) women authors. These books were SO difficult to find...near impossible.

Nadine wanted a children’s book that would empower her girls and other boys and girls to do what they dream. She also wanted to show them that little girls who dream and become race car drivers are normal these days, so she decided to write her own book to fill that void.

6 months later, book 1, “Sachiko Goes Racing” was born. Nadine has so many personal stories and lessons she learned from being a race car driver to share, that she’s planned an entire book series.

TODAY
Nadine is a first-time author and an avid cute children’s book reader and collector. Professionally, she is an entrepreneur that runs a luxury portrait photography studio (Sachiko Studio) in Arcadia, CA and a boutique accounting firm (Sachiko Accounting). She also co-produces the Sileightymania Podcast and produces the Drifting Pretty Podcast.

Nadine still goes drifting once in a while, and she still owns her original race car featured in the book. In her free time, you can find Nadine collecting sneakers and dancing Hip-Hop with an all-female AAPI mom crew and spending as much time as she can on watching movies with her beloved husband Benson.
